The Top 500 Japanese Words: Ranked by how often they appear on the Internet.

イメージ
TOKYO — Have you ever wondered which words are the most common in Japanese? Mark Smith took all the words in a Japanese dictionary, put them through some Internet search engines, and then compared the number of search hits. The results are in his new book:  “The Top 500 Japanese Words: Ranked by how often they appear on the Internet.” Many of the resulting words are more common on websites than in conversational speech, and that’s ideal if you want to read Japanese websites. For instance, the first three words are  “kensaku 検索” (look up, search),  “joho 情報” (news, information, gossip),  “saito サイト” (website). The examples are written in Romaji and Japanese script. From the author of “Real Japanese: Learn to speak the same way Japanese kids do!”, who also developed the automated Japanese video-chat   website www.blackbeltjapanese.com. Over 100 illustrations by “myoume.” Available from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.jp ISBN-13: 978-...

And yet, Japanese women are the most beautiful

イメージ
An earthquake sensitive is a person who claims to have the ability to predict earthquakes . Notable sensitives include American geologist Jim Berkland , who proposes that sensitivity should be scientifically employed in earthquake prediction . Sensitives often claim to feel manifest physical and mental effects prior to an earthquake, including ringing of the ears , dizziness, ear tones, headaches, vivid dreams, anxiety , and visions . Reliability There is no evidence that earthquake sensitives are genuinely able to predict earthquakes, and the so-called symptoms of sensitivity remain at best highly controversial. No scientific proof of these abilities has been demonstrated. [1] Jim Berkland's claim to earthquake sensitivity was formally investigated and appeared to be groundless. [2] Gene Emery [3] keeps track of psychic predictions and has discussed Clarisa Bernhardt's failed predictions as well as those of other alleged earthquake sensitives. [4] In 1976, Clarisa Be...

Japanese earthquake news: JAPAN AINU

イメージ
Ainu living outside Hokkaido had lower income and education levels compared with the nationwide average and some faced discrimination, a government survey released Friday showed. A government panel to promote Ainu policies held its first national survey on members of the ethnic group living outside the prefecture following the historical 2008 Diet resolution in which the they were officially recognized as indigenous people. A similar poll has been conducted on Ainu living in Hokkaido. "We found that the Ainu living outside Hokkaido were also placed in very difficult situations, and especially surprising was the disparity in income," said Wakio Mitsui, deputy transport minister and a member of the panel. Out of 132 households, 44.8 percent lived on an annual income of under ?3 million, while the nationwide level was 33.2 percent. Also, 7.6 percent lived on welfare, while the national average was a mere 2.3 percent. There was also a clear difference in education: only 3...
