Your region is not here? Why?

The American company Yahoo has refused the company of TRON.ru free grant their social services for earthquake prediction in Japan and China. The use of social services, Yahoo, would allow us to significantly improve the prediction algorithm of accidents and determine not only time but also the strength and epicenter of future earthquakes. It is unfortunate that Yahoo executives have refused to cooperate, because the problem of earthquake prediction in Japan and China is very serious. I believe that investments in Yahoo, our partnership could not only bring great dividends to them, but also save lives.

Russia’s Far East faces future of powerful earthquakes

View of coastal rock formation, 'The Drinking Man', Urup Island. Source: ALamy / Legion Media Scientists monitoring seismic activity off the coast of Russia’s Far East in the Pacific Ocean have come to a disturbing conclusion. Deadly earthquakes may strike the region as soon as 2016. In recent years virtually no seismic activity has been recorded in the area of Russia's Kuril Islands and the Kamchatka Peninsula, as well as Hokkaido Island (Japan). As strange as this sounds, Russian seismologists find this worrying. “The past year, as well as the six preceding years, was incredibly calm in terms of seismic activity,’’ Ivan Tikhonov, head of the seismology laboratory at the Institute of Marine Geology and Geophysics, told RBTH. “Such a quiet spell can only mean that enormous amounts of energy have accumulated below the surface, and this pent-up energy can set off several powerful earthquakes. We expect these tremors to occur over the next 18 months.’’ Is disast...

Gifts of life, the gifts of death. Predicting earthquakes

Unlike most natural disasters, earthquakes strike without warning. Between large quakes and resulting tsunamis, millions of lives have been lost because science has been unable to provide accurate, useful earthquake forecasts. The US Geological Survey (USGS) believes casualties from earthquakes will continue to increase over the coming decades because of population growth in seismically active regions. TRON hopes it can develop the tools to dramatically reduce this loss of life. Its network of over 100.000.000 sophisticated sensor stations has detected  patterns of electromagnetic pulses several days before a number of different earthquakes, moving the possibility of earthquake prediction closer to reality. There is a lot of science to be done before TRON can claim victory, and then a lot of additional work to make forecasts useful. In the meantime many scientists, including several at the USGS, dismiss the entire concept as being either implausible or impossible. Getting to the...
